The latter are those who earn fees from sales brought through their own media channels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For affiliates, Affiliate Marketing is a way to monetize the online traffic through the sales they generate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is done by creating and posting custom links. The links send the interested visitors to sites (usually online stores) where they can buy the promoted products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The history of Affiliate Marketing is a long one, starting with 1989 (according to <a href=\"https:\/\/moreniche.com\/blog\/a-brief-history-of-affiliate-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the MoreNiche platform<\/span><\/span><\/a>). It seems that William J. Tobin is the first to come up with this concept and a dedicated affiliate program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five years later, <a href=\"https:\/\/affiliate-program.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Amazon&#8217;s affiliate program<\/span><\/span><\/a> also appeared. It still operates today and offers fees of up to 10% of the sales the affiliates make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. What is Influencer Marketing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"546\" src=\"https:\/\/mocapp.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Influencer-Marketing-1024x546.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5962\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Influencer Marketing is a newer form of marketing, globally used. It represents the promotional action by which a (popular) content creator promotes a service or product to his \/ her communities. Most of the time, the sent message is published on the influencer&#8217;s Social Media accounts: Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, blog, etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mocapp.net\/en\/category\/influencer-marketing-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">For more information regarding the Influencer Marketing industry, see our series of articles HERE<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Forbes, Influencer Marketing appeared in the early 2000s, with the first forums, but also with blogs and brand communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, both affiliates and influencers are creators of digital content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The important differences between the two types of creators:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#1<strong> The collaboration process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When we talk about Affiliate Marketing, in order to make the purchase through the specially created link, we need <strong>Affiliate Marketing programs<\/strong>. Among the first such programs it was the one created by Amazon, called <a href=\"https:\/\/affiliate-program.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Amazon Associates<\/span><\/span><\/a>, launched in 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Influencer Marketing, for the campaigns conduct, you need <strong>the Social Media channels of the influencer<\/strong>, this being most of the times also the place where the brand campaigns take place.
