Download the 2026 Market StudyThe market reaches €121 million in 2026, up 8% from €112 million in 2025 and €100 million in 2024. Growth is slowing but remains well above the pace of the wider Romanian economy.
Instagram takes 61% of influencer marketing budgets, TikTok 38%. YouTube and all other platforms combined stay under 1%.
The study identified 62,960 active influencer accounts on Instagram and 261,800 on TikTok. Nano and micro creators dominate both platforms: about 95% of Instagram influencer accounts have fewer than 50,000 followers.
Influencers average 1.71% engagement on Instagram, 3 times the brand-account average. Over 273,000 sponsored posts generated an estimated €223.8 million in Earned Media Value, around 6 times the estimated spend on creator fees.
The Romanian influencer marketing market is estimated at €121 million in 2026, a new all-time high, according to the MOCAPP & HypeAuditor study.
The market grew from €100 million in 2024 to €112 million in 2025 and €121 million in 2026. Annual growth normalized from 15% to 12% and now 8%: the market keeps expanding while the pace matures.
Five forces explain why the market grows 8% in a year when GDP growth forecasts for Romania were cut below 1%:

The study identified 62,960 active influencer accounts on Instagram: accounts with at least 1,000 followers, Romania as the first audience country and at least one post published between June 1, 2025 and June 1, 2026.
TikTok has an even larger base: 261,800 creator accounts. 86% of them sit in the 1,000 to 10,000 follower tier and over 97% stay below 50,000 followers.
The combined estimate exceeds 324,000 creator accounts, but these are non-unique profiles, not distinct people. Many creators are active on both Instagram and TikTok and appear in both bases. The study has not applied cross-platform deduplication, so 324,000 is the gross sum of the two platform bases, not a count of unique individuals.
Instagram concentrates 61% of budgets, TikTok 38%, while YouTube and all other platforms remain under 1%. On Instagram, Romanian influencers published over 273,000 sponsored posts in the research period. On TikTok, the study analyzed approximately 14,000 commercial posts, classified with an AI-assisted content framework.
On Instagram, engagement declines as audiences grow: creators in the 1,000 to 10,000 tier average 2.01%, versus 0.71% for brand accounts of the same size, and the platform-wide influencer average is 1.71%. On TikTok, engagement is calculated on views, which makes it structurally higher: the average is 8.4%, with a peak of 9.5% for creators with 10,000 to 50,000 followers.

The Romanian market is strongly commerce-oriented. On Instagram, Beauty leads with 23.2% of sponsored content, followed by Fashion (10.9%), Food & Beverage (10.4%) and Home & Household (6.9%). On TikTok, Beauty dominance is even clearer: 31%, followed by Fashion at 14% and Retail & E-commerce at 6.5%.

Reels dominate volume with 59% of sponsored posts on Instagram and a 1.2% engagement rate. Carousels take 29% of volume but deliver the best engagement, 1.5%. Photos remain the least used format: 12% of volume at 1.0%. The practical translation: Reels for reach, Carousels for engagement when the objective is performance rather than exposure.
Activations are strongly product-centered. On Instagram, product integration appears in 50.1% of paid posts, followed by product seeding and gifting (25.6%), discounts and special offers (19.9%) and promo codes (13.3%). On TikTok the hierarchy is similar: integration 51.5%, discounts 20.5%, gifting 10.5%, promo codes 9%.
Affiliate links reach 6.5% of commercial posts on TikTok, well above Instagram's 1.3%, which makes TikTok the more conversion-wired platform. Complex mechanics such as UGC campaigns and ambassador partnerships remain niche, under 3% of activations on both platforms.
Almost 76% of sponsored content comes from creators with fewer than 50,000 followers: 28.8% from accounts under 10,000 and 47.3% from the 10,000 to 50,000 tier. Mid-tier creators (50,000 to 500,000) produce 21.5%, and accounts above 500,000 only 2.4%. Smaller creators combine higher engagement, credible niche audiences and lower fees, which is exactly the mix performance-driven budgets reward.

Paid partnerships must be disclosed, and audiovisual advertising rules now extend to social media content. Since 2025, sector-regulated categories, with pharma as the clearest case, are held to the same advertising standard on Instagram and TikTok as on TV and radio.
CNA Decision 573/2025, in force since August 7, 2025, extended broadcast advertising rules to social media. Influencer campaigns for medicines, supplements and medical devices now follow the same standard as TV. A notable finding from the study's survey of in-house pharma marketers: the dominant answer was that the new rules did not change their strategy, which signals a compliance gap in the market.
The study describes a step-by-step compliance path: select creators on verified audience demographics, script content with the mandatory warnings in place, obtain the ANMDM advertising visa for each channel before publication, run a formal pre-approval workflow with the brand and archive all materials for a possible audit. The full chapter is included in the PDF.
Follower count is close to irrelevant as a selection criterion. Views and engagement are the variables that matter, applied on clear audience demographics and checked for fake followers and fake likes.
Reels for reach, Carousels for engagement, Stories for community interaction and links. The default format is not always the right one; the objective decides.
45.9% of brands already measure campaigns through promo codes. Pairing every awareness activation with promo codes, affiliate links or Earned Media Value tracking keeps influencer marketing accountable to performance standards.
Many credible nano and micro creators outperform a single large name. This is how the Romanian market already operates: 76% of sponsored content comes from creators under 50,000 followers.
Especially in regulated categories, compliance is a design input, not a final check. Approval workflows, mandatory warnings and channel-level advertising visas must be planned before content production starts.
MOCAPP operates an influencer marketing platform with an audited creator network in Romania: 7,500+ creators manually audited by the MOCAPP team across 27 niches. Since 2019, MOCAPP has delivered over 5,000 campaigns for more than 170 brands across 6 countries, including Kaufland, ING Bank, Samsung, Revolut, Trendyol, Carrefour, LC Waikiki and Vodafone.

The study is produced by MOCAPP, influencer marketing platform and agency in Romania, in partnership with HypeAuditor, the global analytics platform for influencer marketing. The 2026 edition is the third annual edition, published every year since 2024. The 2025 edition is available here.
The research window is June 1, 2025 to June 1, 2026. The study was published on September 10, 2026.
The Instagram analysis covers 62,960 accounts selected on three criteria: at least 1,000 followers, Romania as the first audience country and at least one post in the research window. In total, 2,601,701 posts were scanned, of which 273,179 were identified as sponsored or likely sponsored (10.5%). Earned Media Value and estimated spend are modeled by HypeAuditor.
The TikTok base counts 261,800 creator accounts. Approximately 14,000 commercial posts were classified by industry with an AI-assisted content framework; TikTok category results are directional estimates of the distribution, not exhaustive counts.
Sponsored content includes both disclosed partnerships and posts identified as likely sponsored. Cross-platform creator totals are non-unique profiles. TikTok engagement is view-based, so it is not directly comparable with Instagram's follower-based engagement. The category taxonomy was updated in 2026, so category shares should not be compared directly with previous editions.
The market is estimated at €121 million in 2026, up 8% year on year, according to the MOCAPP & HypeAuditor study.
The study identified 62,960 active influencer accounts on Instagram and 261,800 on TikTok. The combined figure exceeds 324,000 accounts, but it includes duplicates: many creators are active on both platforms and no cross-platform deduplication has been applied.
Instagram concentrates 61% of budgets and remains the primary investment destination. TikTok, at 38%, has a larger creator base and higher view-based engagement, and it is growing as a conversion channel through affiliate links.
1.71% on average on Instagram, 3 times the brand-account average of 0.57%. On TikTok the average is 8.4%, calculated on views, with a peak of 9.5% for creators with 10,000 to 50,000 followers.
Creators with fewer than 50,000 followers produce almost 76% of sponsored content: 28.8% from accounts under 10,000 followers and 47.3% from the 10,000 to 50,000 tier.
Costs depend on creator tier, platform and format. As a market reference, the study estimates €37.3 million spent on roughly 273,000 sponsored Instagram posts over 12 months, generating around 6 times that value in Earned Media Value. For a detailed breakdown by tier, see Influencer Budgets in Romania 2026.
